Laura Anglin Joining Office of the First Deputy Mayor as Chief Administrative Officer

Experienced public and non-profit sector leader will work with key operating agencies

NEW YORK—First Deputy Mayor Anthony Shorris announced today that Laura Anglin will join his office as Chief Administrative Officer, effective January 1, 2017. In this capacity, Anglin will support the work of a number of City agencies, including Fire, Sanitation, Transportation, DEP, DOITT, DDC, DCAS, Buildings and TLC. She will report to the First Deputy Mayor. 

Prior to joining the First Deputy Mayor's staff, Anglin served as President of the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities for the last seven years. She previously served in a number of senior governmental capacities, including Director of the Budget for New York State and Deputy State Comptroller.

In her new role, Anglin will work with City Hall staff, OMB, Law as well as the agencies on a daily basis, focusing on advancing the Mayor's agenda, ensuring accountability and performance, managing issues as they arise, and developing additional programmatic initiatives.  She will work closely with the First Deputy Mayor's Chief of Staff Dominic Williams and Special Advisor for Policy and Planning Benjamin Furnas. 

About Laura Anglin

Laura Anglin has a wealth of experience in both the private and public sector. Prior to her role as Chief Administration Officer, Anglin served as the President of the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities (CICU), a title she has held since 2009. Her role as president included leading state and federal public policy advocacy, regulatory coordination, and pre-college outreach activities. Anglin was the first female president of CICU and in this role worked closely with the state on legislation regarding sexual assaults on campus, restricting the use of opioids and fought for more funding for private schools.  

Prior to serving as CICU’s president, Anglin spent time working as the First Deputy Budget Director and Budget Director for New York State, largely in charge of managing the State’s financial plan and proposals. Additionally, Anglin has spent time as an economist at the New York Department of Environmental Conservation, an Econometrician at the New York Department of Taxation and Finance, and has had various roles in the NY State Assembly.

Prior to her new role, Anglin served as a board member at the Mohawk and Hudson River Humane Society and Retired Public Employees Association (RPEA), and as an alternate member for the Board of Ethics for the City of Cohoes. Previously, Anglin has served on the Board for the Commission on Metropolitan Transportation Authority Financing, Local Government Assistance Corporation, Public Authorities Control Board, and the Committee on Open Government.
