NEW YORK—Mayor Bill de Blasio today applauded businesses in New York City’s technology sector for their work to mandate vaccines for their in-office workforce.
“New York City’s tech sector has been key to getting us through the pandemic, and they're leading again on the vaccine requirements for their office workforce,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio. “We urge additional industries to follow this example. As we face the Delta variant, vaccination is more important than ever."
While offices are not subject to the same “Key to NYC” requirements for indoor dining, entertainment, and fitness facilities, the Mayor has urged the private sector to do everything in their power to get their workforce vaccinated - including mandates.
“Throughout the pandemic, tech companies in New York have played a crucial role in leading New York to its recovery, by partnering with the City for everything from test and trace to sourcing vaccine appointments. These vaccine mandates are the necessary next step to keep employees, their families, and their communities safe,” said Julie Samuels, Executive Director of Tech:NYC. “The sector is grateful for the Mayor’s recognition and commends his many vaccination initiatives. We look forward to continuing to work with city leadership on a comeback for all New Yorkers.”
