Mayor de Blasio Announces New Director of Latino Media

April 8, 2016

NEW YORK––Mayor de Blasio today announced Jessica Ramos as Director of Latino Media. Ramos previously served as Communications Advisor to Deputy Mayor for Strategic Policy and Initiatives Richard Buery, and will now act as the liaison between City Hall and Latino Media.

“Jessica Ramos has been an efficient and effective Communications Advisor for Deputy Mayor Buery,” said Mayor de Blasio. “In addition, Ramos has been essential in communicating key goals of this administration, among them, Pre-K For All. This is a program that has impacted numerous and diverse families across the five boroughs, ensuring that every child has the resources they need to succeed in life. Ramos’ role in informing all New Yorkers about this life-changing program should be commended, and I look forward to her work as Director of Latino Media.”

As Director of Latino Media, Jessica Ramos will act as the liaison between City Hall and Latino media – an effort the administration has undertaken to ensure that all New Yorkers are well-informed on what the City and its various agencies are doing to improve their lives. Ramos will spearhead this effort by acting as Senior Latino Spokesperson on a range of priorities including developing and executing media strategies with ethnic and community media.

“Born and bred in Queens to immigrant parents, I know firsthand that our city’s unparalleled diversity and the vibrancy of our communities are what make it so special,” said Director of Latino Media Jessica Ramos. “I am honored to serve my city in this new capacity. Our message is one of unity and equality, and it must reach all the corners of this great city.”
