FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE PR- 498-10 December 7, 2010 MAYOR BLOOMBERG SIGNS LEGISLATION REQUIRING NOTIFICATION OF TREE PLANTINGS NEAR SCHOOLS OR HOSPITALS Remarks by Mayor Bloomberg at a Public Hearing on Local Laws "The next bill before me is Introductory Number 311-A, sponsored by Council Members Oddo, Arroyo, Dilan, Fidler, James, Koslowitz, Palma, Williams, Barron, Vacca, Nelson, Cabrera, Mark-Viverito, Ferreras, Halloran, Koo, Ulrich, Jackson, Gennaro, Van Bramer, Eugene and Rodriguez. "Introductory Number 311-A requires the Department of Parks and Recreation to notify a representative of a school or hospital prior to a tree being planted by the Department on a sidewalk within one hundred feet of any entrance or exit of the school or hospital.
