MAYOR BLOOMBERG APPOINTS COURTNEY HALL TO THE CAMPAIGN FINANCE BOARD

Former NFL All-Pro to Join Non-Partisan Board

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg today appointed Courtney Hall to the New York City Campaign Finance Board. Mr. Hall replaces Katheryn C. Patterson, who has served on the Campaign Finance Board since 2004 and has completed her term. Courtney Hall is a co-Founder and Managing Director at Hillcrest Venture Partners in New York since June of 2008. Prior to his work at Hillcrest, Mr. Hall was a teaching fellow with the New York City Department of Education.  He also co-founded EXACT Sports, a company that performs quantitative assessments of the athletic, psychological and neuro-cognitive abilities of high school and collegiate student/athletes. Prior to EXACT, Hall was an investment banker at UBS and Morgan Stanley. Prior to his work in investment banking, Hall worked for the law firms Gunderson Dettmer Stough Villeneuve Franklin & Hachigan and Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich (now DLA Piper). Hall is a former NFL starting center who played for the San Diego Chargers from 1989 to 1997, serving as team captain and leading franchise to its first and only Super Bowl appearance.  He also served as the team's NFL Players Association representative.

"Courtney Hall's impressive resume is matched only by his commitment to public service, and I want to thank him for taking on this new challenge," said Mayor Bloomberg. "A lawyer, entrepreneur, investment banker, and teacher - not to mention an All-Pro NFL lineman - Courtney's legal knowledge and diverse experiences will be a great addition to the Campaign Finance Board.  Former CFB chair Father O'Hare often referred to politics as a contact sport, and no one is better prepared for refereeing the blocking and tackling than Courtney Hall."

"I am honored and thrilled to be appointed to the Campaign Finance Board," said Courtney Hall. "There is nothing more fundamental to a democracy than the election of its public officials. Working to ensure the integrity of our own election process is, therefore, one of the most important tasks that citizens can undertake.  I look forward to working with my fellow board members to serve the people of New York City."

A non-partisan agency, the Campaign Finance Board monitors City candidates' campaign contributions and expenditures, enforces the City's campaign finance law, and provides public funding to candidates who choose to participate in the City's public financing system. The Board also makes public disclosure of candidates' campaign finances, publishes a non-partisan Voter Guide for each regularly scheduled City election, and administers a mandatory debate program for candidates for citywide office who seek public funding for their campaigns.

He earned his Bachelor's degree in Economics and Managerial Studies from Rice University and both a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and Juris Doctorate from the University of Chicago School of Law. Hall serves on the Board of Trustees of the Randall's Island Sports Foundation.  He is a resident of Harlem.
