STATEMENT OF MAYOR MICHAEL R. BLOOMBERG ON THE PASSING OF CHARLES ENSLEY

“New York City has lost one of its great labor leaders. Charles Ensley ably led the 15,000 social service employees that perform some of the most important – and most challenging – jobs in the City for three decades. After he graduated from Howard University, he became a front-line caseworker, and he never forgot that he learned first-hand what it takes to be a social service worker. He was a tough negotiator who fought hard for his members; he never forgot his obligation to represent them. He will be missed.”
