STATEMENT BY MAYOR BLOOMBERG ON THE RETIREMENT OF MEDGAR EVERS COLLEGE PRESIDENT DR. EDISON O. JACKSON

“The City University of New York is losing a dedicated educator and an important leader in the retirement of Dr. Edison O. Jackson from the Presidency of Brooklyn’s Medgar Evers College. For two decades, Dr. Jackson tirelessly led campaigns to upgrade the Medgar Evers facilities, increase student enrollment, implement new academic structures and restore the school to senior college status. Dr. Jackson also currently serves on the Panel for Educational Policy, the Commission on Human Rights, and served on my 2002 Transition Team. We will miss the talent and energy that has enriched the lives of thousands of students, and I wish Dr. Jackson all the best in his retirement.”
