"NYCTV continues to shine as one of the best television stations in the New York area," said Deputy Mayor for Operations Ed Skyler. "I congratulate the entire NYCTV team on capturing the spirit and pulse of the City in such unique ways, and for continuing to provide innovative, high-quality content for all New Yorkers."

"I am very pleased to congratulate NYCTV on its nominations this year," said Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications Commissioner Paul Cosgrave. "Once again, the station has leveraged its considerable creative talent to showcase the amazingly varied aspects of life in New York City, providing new touch points for viewers across the region, throughout the country, and around the world."

"NYCTV has been nominated for this prestigious honor every year since its launch in 2003 and I am thrilled to be recognized by our peers once again," said President of NYC Media Group and General Manager of NYCTV Arick Wierson. "NYCTV has boldly re-imagined municipal television and the reward for us has been the ability to deliver ground-breaking programming content that resonates with New Yorkers and many others around the globe."

The 44 New York Emmy nominations NYCTV received today underscores its status as one of the region's fastest growing television networks. With innovative programming that highlights and celebrates the vitality of New York City, NYCTV has become a model for municipal television. Over the years, NYCTV has also brokered historic distribution deals to increase the worldwide audience for its high-quality programming. In 2006, NYCTV entered an agreement with WNBC, the flagship NBC station in New York City, to air over 100 episodes of its original content on WNBC for the 2006/2007 season. That same year, NYC TV began a partnership with PBS that allows "Secrets of New York" to air on PBS stations nationwide. In 2007, NYCTV launched NYCTV On-Demand, a cutting edge website that offers hundreds of premium video clips from NYCTV shows.

With its signature theme "Everything New York," NYCTV's flagship Channel 25 showcases New York City culture, including history and landmarks, entertainment and fashion, and music and food. NYCTV also operates four other channels. City Drive Live (Channel 72 on Cablevision, 93 on Time Warner, and digital broadcast Channel 25.2) provides local drivers with 24/7 live coverage of the City's main roadways through the Department of Transportation's network of traffic cameras. Mayoral press conferences, City Council hearings, and other municipal services information are broadcast on Channel 74. NYCTV Channel 73 features programming of special interest for the City's diverse immigrant communities. Off Track Betting is broadcast live on NYCTV Channel 71.

Additionally, NYCTV can be seen on WVVH-TV in Long Island on Cablevision's Channel 78 and Verizon FiOS channel 25. Much of NYCTV's original programming is available online at NYCTV On-Demand www.nyc.gov/vod.
