MAYOR BLOOMBERG ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF LESLIE RAMOS AS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE MAYOR'S OFFICE OF INDUSTRIAL AND MANUFACTURING BUSINESSES

Office coordinates the delivery of incentives and one-on-one assistance to grow jobs in the industrial and manufacturing sector

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg today announced the appointment of Leslie Ramos as Executive Director of the Mayor's Office of Industrial and Manufacturing Businesses. In this role, Executive Director Ramos will work to retain and expand the City's industrial and manufacturing sector and coordinate across City agencies to provide assistance and incentives to local manufacturers.

"Our City's manufacturing sector supports jobs for nearly 500,000 New Yorkers," said Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg. "In this role, Leslie will use her experience to coordinate the delivery of services to help industrial and manufacturing firms form, grow and thrive in New York City."

"While the face of the industrial and manufacturing sector has changed in recent years, today New York City is home to a strong community of small to mid-size manufacturers that base their operations here to be close to their customers and take advantage of the best labor pool in the world," said Executive Director Ramos. "I look forward to helping these businesses access the incentives and assistance they need to be competitive and successful in New York City."

Previously, Ramos served as Assistant Commissioner at the Department of Housing and Preservation, where she provided management and oversight of the agency's operating budget and 10-year capital plan, which includes the construction or preservation of 165,000 units of affordable housing. She holds an M.P.A. from Syracuse University and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
