STATEMENT BY MAYOR BLOOMBERG ON CITY'S FILING OF BRIEF ON THE STATE'S APPEAL OF CFE RULING

"For decades, the State has failed to provide adequate funding for the New York City school system.  By refusing to implement the Judicial Referees' and Justice Leland DeGrasse's plan for moving forward in the Campaign for Fiscal Equity case, it continues to neglect its court-mandated obligation to give New York City students their fair share.

"We hope our 'Friend-of-the-Court' brief will help the Appellate Division recognize the critical legal and educational issues in play and force the State to finally live up to its responsibilities and to stop short-changing our students."
