"The last bill before me is Intro. Number 281-A, sponsored by Council Members Vann, Boyland, Fidler, Gentile, Gerson, Katz, Koppell, Lopez, Speaker Miller, McMahon, Monserrate, Moskowitz, Oddo, Provenzano, Reed, Reyna, Weprin, Avella, Barron, Jackson, James, Liu, Quinn, Addabbo, Jr., Dilan, Felder, Gallagher, Gennaro, Gonzalez, Jennings, Perkins, Seabrook, Sears, Serrano, Lanza and Yassky.

"This bill renames 94 thoroughfares and public places throughout the City.  The first 41 names that I will read are streets or thoroughfares renamed in honor of those who died on September 11th.  Even though over two and a half years have passed since that tragic event, this action, although a modest gesture, will let it be known that the City will never forget those who perished that day.

"I will now read the first 41 names of civilians, firefighters and police officers who died on September 11th.  

"The remaining 53 names represent individuals or entities that are being honored for their accomplishments.  While it is not possible to describe the reason each individual or entity is deserving of a street name change, each Council Member who submitted a name presented a detailed justification for this honor.

I will now read the list of the next 53 names to be honored.
