STATEMENT BY PRESS SECRETARY
ON MAYOR MICHAEL R. BLOOMBERG’S TRIP TO LONDON

“The Mayor has decided to postpone next week’s trip to London, which was intended to encourage investment in New York City.  Considering the challenges our country is facing, it is better to postpone his presentations until international tensions subside. The Mayor knows President Bush will do everything in his power to avoid a war but the President has to protect the people of this great city and country. The Mayor doesn’t know more than anyone else what course of action this will take, but all things considered, he does not feel this is the right time to make such a trip.

“In the meantime, representatives from the Economic Development Corporation will still travel to London and we will continue to do everything in our power to sell the international business community on New York City and convince them that the World’s Second Home should be their home as well.”
