MAYOR MICHAEL R. BLOOMBERG RE-APPOINTS DAVID B. CORNSTEIN AS
CHAIR OF OFF TRACK BETTING CORPORATION

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg today announced the re-appointment of David B. Cornstein as Chair of the Off Track Betting Corporation (OTB).  OTB, established in 1970, is a public benefit corporation that operates a system of pari-mutuel off track betting facilities within the City of New York.   Cornstein was first appointed to the Board of OTB in 1994.  

 “David Cornstein has done an outstanding job returning OTB to profitability as well as maintaining its superlative reputation for integrity in the racing world,” said Mayor Bloomberg.  “He is a shrewd businessman, a racing enthusiast and an asset to our City and State.”

“It is truly an honor to be re-appointed to this position by Mayor Bloomberg,” said Chairman Cornstein. “I look forward to working with Mayor Bloomberg, my fellow board members and the staff of OTB to continue enhancing and improving the nations finest off track betting authority.”

Cornstein was appointed by Governor Pataki as Chairman of the New York State Olympic Games Commission and was nominated and confirmed to serve as a Director on the Battery Park City Authority. Cornstein previously was Vice Chairman of the Economic Development Corporation of New York City and has served on the New York State Council on State Productivity.  Cornstein also served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Finlay Enterprises, a nationwide, publicly traded, leased fine jewelry company based in Manhattan with annual sales of over a billion dollars.  Cornstein serves on the Board of Directors of several organizations, including New York Law School, the Jewish Community Relations Council, Park East Synagogue, and The Marine Corporation Law Enforcement Foundation.

Cornstein earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lafayette College and a Masters of Business Administration from New York University.  He is married to Sheila Cornstein and has one son, Marc.
