The following statement by the Mayor was released today in regards to the sentencing of former New York City tax assessor Anthony Antinoro. The Mayor had written to Federal Judge Alvin Hellerstein to ask for "substantial" punishment of corrupt tax assessors.

"Today's sentence by Judge Hellerstein sends the important message that corruption will not be tolerated by our society. Breaking the public's trust must carry serious consequences and I am satisfied with the judge's decision."
