Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced a tentative collective bargaining settlement, subject to ratification, covering almost 7,000 registered nurses, who work primarily for the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation. The New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) settlement covers 27-month period from October 1, 2000 through December 31, 2002.

"These health care employees provide a valuable city service and we are pleased to settle the collective bargaining agreement on terms consistent with the civilian settlement in this round of bargaining," said Mayor Bloomberg. "I want to congratulate Labor Commissioner Jim Hanley and NYNSA negotiating team for maintaining the City's commitment to attain fiscally prudent settlements, while balancing the Union's aim to achieve fair treatment and compensation for its members."
