MAYOR MICHAEL R. BLOOMBERG SWEARS IN THREE
FAMILY COURT JUDGES
Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg today swore in the Honorable Michael A.
Ambrosio, Nora L. Freeman, and Gloria Sosa-Lintner as New York City
Family Court Judges at City Hall. The judges were reappointed by the
Mayor in late August and will serve 10-year terms. The Mayor was joined
by Deputy Mayor for Legal Affairs/Counsel to the Mayor Carol Robles-Román,
Corporation Counsel Michael Cardozo and Chief of the Law Department's
Family Court Division Deborah Seidenberg, Criminal Justice Coordinator
John Feinblatt, Administration for Children's Services Commissioner
William Bell, Juvenile Justice Commissioner Neil Hernandez, and Probation
Commissioner Martin Horn, each of whom plays an integral role in overseeing
the City's operations in Family Court. Also present were the Mayor's
Advisory Committee on the Judiciary Chair Zachary Carter and Vice-Chair
Robert Keating.
"Family Court Judges adjudicate matters that involve the most vulnerable New Yorkers, particularly our young people," Mayor Bloomberg said. "I expect judges and City Commissioners to work together to ensure justice is dispensed fairly to families and children throughout all parts of our City."
Judge Michael A. Ambrosio is currently an Acting Supreme Court Justice in Kings County. He was first appointed to Family Court in 1983, and subsequently reappointed in 1992, serving in both Queens and Kings Counties as Supervising Judge. Judge Ambrosio, who resides in Brooklyn, received a BA from Fordham University in 1966 and a JD from Harvard Law School in 1969.
Judge Nora L. Freeman is currently a Family Court Judge in Kings County. She was first appointed to Family Court in 1993, serving in both Queens and Kings Counties. Judge Freeman, who resides in Brooklyn, received a BA from SUNY Binghamton in 1971 and a JD from the New York University School of Law in 1976.
Judge Gloria Sosa-Lintner is currently a Family Court Judge in New York County. She was first appointed to Family Court in 1988, and subsequently reappointed in 1992, serving in both Bronx and New York Counties. Judge Sosa-Lintner, who resides in Manhattan, received a BA from Barnard College in 1970 and a JD from the New York University School of Law in 1975.
