MAYOR MICHAEL R. BLOOMBERG AND MAYOR TOM DALY OF ANAHEIM ANNOUNCE FRIENDLY PLAYOFF WAGER

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg announced today that he and Mayor Tom Daly of Anaheim, California have made a friendly wager as the New York Yankees and Anaheim Angels prepare to meet in the American League Division Series.

Continuing a longstanding tradition amongst mayors, Mayor Bloomberg has offered to send Mayor Daly Nathan's Hot Dogs and H&H Bagels if the Yankees lose. If the defending American League Champs defeat the Angels, Mayor Daly will send Mayor Bloomberg a crate of Anaheim oranges and Anaheim chiles.

"New Yorkers are excited about the Yankees beginning their quest for an unprecedented 27th World Series Championship," said Mayor Bloomberg. "Anaheim has a great team and the Yankees have their work cut out, but I'm sure our bullpen will enjoy some fresh Anaheim oranges and the chiles will help keep our line-up hot as we move on to the Pennant."

"We are proud of our Anaheim Angels and their franchise-record 99 win season and look forward to a competitive series with the New York Yankees," said Mayor Daly. "As the smallest Major League Baseball city, we are excited to have our team in the national spotlight, pitting their skills against a team with the storied history of the Yankees."

Games one and two of the series will be played at Yankee Stadium, Game three will be played at Anaheim's Edison Field. In the unlikely event that Game four is necessary, it will be played in Anaheim and Game five in New York.
