MAYOR MICHAEL R. BLOOMBERG'S STATEMENT ON QUEENS
BOROUGH PRESIDENT'S PROPOSAL TO END BUS STRIKE

"The Borough President's proposal that commits the bus companies to self-fund the increased health care costs through productivity gains without additional City subsidies will resolve the strike. These productivity improvements are a good start and to build upon these gains the City will audit the Bus Companies to identify additional efficiencies and costs savings. We are pleased that the owners offer will allow the TWU to return to work, end the inconvenience for Queens riders and get the buses moving again. I want to thank Borough President Helen Marshall for her tireless work on behalf of the people of Queens to resolve this strike."
