MAYOR MICHAEL R. BLOOMBERG APPOINTS DESIRÉE KIM
AS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO MAYOR'S ADVISORY COMMITTEE
ON THE JUDICIARY
Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg today announced the appointment of Desirée
Kim as the Executive Director of the Mayor's Advisory Committee on
the Judiciary. The Mayor's Advisory Committee was established by Executive
Order to recruit, evaluate, and nominate highly qualified judicial
candidates for appointment to the New York City Criminal Court, Family
Court and, for interim civil court appointments. There are 19 appointed
members to the Advisory Committee, which include Zachary W. Carter
as Chair and Robert Keating as Vice Chair.
"Desirée Kim has the background and experience necessary to help me fulfill my commitment to selecting individuals of the highest integrity and vast legal and judicial experience for judicial appointments and re-appointments," Mayor Bloomberg said. "Her charge is to work with the committee to ensure that the most qualified and ethical individuals are appointed to these important judicial posts."
The Executive Director of the Mayor's Advisory Committee on the Judiciary oversees the administration and operation of the Committee on a full-time basis. This includes serving as liaison to the Chair, Vice Chair and the Committee members, as well as administering and tracking all judicial appointments.
Desirée
Kim is currently Special Inspector General for Bias Matters for the
New York State Unified Court System where she supervises and conducts
confidential investigations for this statewide office. Ms. Kim has
also served as Deputy Inspector General for the New York City Department
of Investigation and as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the New
York City Law Department. Ms. Kim received her JD from Brooklyn Law
School and a BA from Barnard College at Columbia University.
