MAYOR BLOOMBERG REAPPOINTS JAMES F. HANLEY AS
COMMISSIONER OF THE MAYOR'S OFFICE OF LABOR RELATIONS

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg announced the reappointment of James F. Hanley as Commissioner of the Mayor's Office of Labor Relations. The Mayor's Office of Labor Relations represents the Mayor in all labor relations between the City of New York and labor organizations representing the employees of the City. The Commissioner serves on behalf of the Mayor as the City's liaison with both labor and management in the private sector. Additionally, the Commissioner administers the Employee Health Benefits Program, Management Benefits Fund, Pre-Tax Benefits & Citywide Programs including the Deferred Compensation Plan, NYC Employee Assistance Program, and the Medicare Reimbursement Program.

"Nearly thirty years ago, Jim Hanley began working for the City as an Administrative Assistant in the Office of Labor Relations. Over the years, Jim's duties covered a wide spectrum of responsibilities involving collective bargaining with a myriad of municipal labor unions," said Mayor Bloomberg. "Jim is committed to developing innovative approaches to achieve cooperative and collaborative solutions to issues affecting labor and management, which will be key to the future relationship between Labor and Management, particularly given the current fiscal situation."

James F. Hanley was first appointed Commissioner of the Office of Labor Relations in 1991. Hanley earned a BA at St. Peter's College and has done graduate work in Economics at the New School for Social Research.
