FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 8, 2002 PR-006-02 www.nyc.gov |
"New York has come a long way since the tragic events which
transpired in Crown Heights over ten years ago. Just last summer,
Carmel Cato and Norman Rosenbaum met for the first time in a stunning
symbol of how the healing process can bring together even those
with the deepest of wounds. Today's decision by the Second Circuit
Court of Appeals could force all of us to reexamine an episode
we thought was part of our history, not our present. But the court
has made its decision and although many of us disagree with it,
the process will continue and we need to remember that justice,
as always, will prevail."
