Short-Term Concession Permits
Short-Term Concession Permits provide an opportunity for a concessionaire to conduct revenue generating activity in NYC DOT Public Spaces, including Open Streets and Plazas, for up to 29 days within a 365-day period. Short-Term Concessionaires in NYC DOT Public Spaces are often required to provide maintenance services during their hours of operation in lieu of a fee.

Available Locations for Short-Term Concessions:
Short-Term Concessions are applicable to most NYC DOT Plazas and Open Streets. Priority consideration is given to proposals for concessions in High- and Medium- Need plazas that are part of the OneNYC Plaza Equity Program and Open Streets that fall within NYC DOT Priority Investment areas as identified in the NYC Streets Plan.
Types of Short-Term Concessions:
Successful Short-Term Concessions come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, from tent and table style food markets, to sales of general merchandise, arts and crafts, and ticketed events. In 2021, NYC DOT hosted 296 event days of concession activity at a wide variety of public spaces while supporting local small businesses and nonprofits.
