The City of New York's Department of Transportation issued a traffic alert for this week providing the locations of road construction and events where lane and street closings will affect the flow of traffic. Lane closings may also occur due to circumstances beyond our control. Major road, lane and street closings for the coming week are as follows:

East River Bridge Crossings

Ed Koch/Queensboro Bridge

Single-lane Manhattan-bound north upper roadway will be closed 24/7. Double-lane Manhattan-bound north upper roadway will be closed Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 3 pm and from 8 pm to 5 am next morning, Saturday to Sunday from 5 am to 2 pm and from 8 pm to 5 am next morning. During double-lane closure, one Queens-bound upper roadway lane will be reversed. Queens-bound south outer roadway will be closed Sunday to Saturday from 11 pm to 6 am next morning. These closures are necessary to facilitate replacement of upper roadway.

Brooklyn Bridge

Single-lane at a time Manhattan-bound will be closed Saturday from 12:01 am to 5 am to facilitate maintenance.

Manhattan Bridge

Single-lane at a time in either direction on the upper and lower roadways will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning to facilitate maintenance. At least one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times.

Williamsburg Bridge

Single-lane Manhattan-bound north outer roadway will be closed from Friday, October 4, 5 am to Monday 5 am, and Monday to Friday from 6 pm to 5 am next morning. Single-lane Manhattan-bound north inner roadway will be closed from Friday, October 4, 8 pm to Monday 5 am, and Monday to Friday from 8 pm to 5 am next morning. Single-lane Brooklyn-bound south outer roadway will be closed Monday to Friday from 5 am to 6 pm. Single-lane Brooklyn-bound south inner roadway will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 3 pm, and Friday from 10 am to 1 pm. These closures are necessary to facilitate Structural Strengthening and rehabilitation.


Manhattan

FDR Drive at 6 Street

Single-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Thursday from 11 pm to 5:30 am next morning through October 10, 2024, to facilitate abandon FDNY manhole and restore the roadway.

FDR Drive Southbound between Jackson Street and Cherry Street

Single-lane will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 pm to 5:30 am next morning, Friday from 11 pm to 7 am next morning, and Sunday from 11 pm to 10 am next morning. Double-lane will be closed Tuesday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 1 am to 7 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate East Side Coastal Resiliency Project and will continue through September 11, 2026.

FDR Drive between Montgomery Street and East 15 Street

Single-lane northbound and/or southbound will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Saturday from 12:01 am to 9 am, and Sunday from 1 am to 11 am. Double-lane will be closed Tuesday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 7 am, and Sunday from 1 am to 7 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate median reconstruction and will continue through August 15, 2026.

FDR Drive at East 55 Street

Northbound, between East 42 and East 62 Streets, on-ramp FDR Service Road at East 35 Street, on-ramp at 1 Avenue and 48 Street, and off-ramp East 61 Street, will be closed Saturday from 2 am to 6 am. Southbound, between East 63 and East 34 Streets, on and off-ramps at East 92, East 78, East 71, East 63, East 53, East 34, and East 42 Streets will be closed Sunday from 2 am to 7 am. These closures are to facilitate south building's facade repairs.

FDR Drive Southbound at East 74 Street

Single-lane will be closed Monday to Thursday from 11 pm to 5:30 am next morning, Friday from 11 pm to 6:30 am next morning, and Sunday from 12 am to 11 am, through October 31, 2024, to facilitate façade repairs.

Henry Hudson Parkway Northbound between West 137 Street and West 147 Street

Single-lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm, Monday to Thursday from 11 pm to 6 am next morning, Friday from 11 pm to 2 pm next day, and Sunday from 12:01 am to 2 pm. Double-lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 6:30 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 9 pm. These closures are necessary to facilitate watermain repairs and will continue through October 31, 2024.

Park Avenue Tunnel at East 34 Street

Park Avenue Tunnel at East 34 Street overpass will be closed 9 am Friday, October 4 to 6 am Monday, October 14, 2024. Eastbound and westbound approach on East 34 Street at the intersection will be reduced to one lane. Southbound Park Avenue parking lane between 33 and 35 Streets will remain a travel lane with a second through lane at all times. Northbound Park Avenue at the intersection approach will be reduced to one travel lane until Monday 6 am. These closures are to facilitate Park Avenue Tunnel Rehabilitation Project.

Times Square Festival

The following streets will be closed for the Times Square Festival on Saturday, October 5th, 2024 as permitted by the NYPD in Manhattan.

Broadway Bridge over the Harlem River

Single-lane in either direction will be closed Monday to Friday from 7 am to 3 pm and double-lane in either direction will be closed from 10 am to 2 pm. Alternating sidewalk closures will be in effect. These closures are necessary to facilitate machinery repairs and will continue through October 18, 2024.

Madison Avenue Bridge over Harlem River

Single-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 6 am next morning, and Saturday from 10 pm to 7 am. Bridge will be fully closed Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am. Bronx-bound will be closed Saturday from 12:01 am to 6 am and Manhattan-bound will be closed Saturday from 12:01 am to 7 am. Alternating single-lane closures in either direction Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 2 pm. These closures will continue through October 31, 2024, which are to facilitate testing and rehabilitation.


Bronx

Broadway in the vicinity of Henry Hudson Parkway Bridge overpass

Northbound will be reduced to one travel lane and parking lane will be closed. Northbound sidewalk and bike lane will be shifted. These closures are necessary to facilitate rehabilitation of the Henry Hudson Parkway Bridge and will continue through October 28, 2024.

Bruckner Boulevard Expressway Unionport Bridge

Single-lane in both directions will be closed Saturday to Friday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning to facilitate milling and paving.

Cross Bronx Expressway (I-95) between Arthur Avenue and Clay Avenue

Single-lane will be closed in both directions Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am and double-lane will be closed from 1 am to 5 am, except holidays. These closures are to facilitate rehabilitation of the bridges overpassing Webster Avenue, Metro-North Railroad, and Third Avenue and will continue through December 14, 2026.

Entrance Ramp from Southbound Sheridan Boulevard (NY-895) to Westbound Bruckner Expressway (I-278)

This ramp will be closed through December 24, 2024, to facilitate Hunts Point Interstate Access Improvement Project. Trucks and buses are advised to use the exit ramp towards Edgewater Road/Hunts Point Market and follow the detour signs and use the Leggett Avenue entrance ramp to westbound Bruckner Expressway. Cars are advised to use the temporary exit ramp towards Whitlock Avenue and follow the detour signs to westbound Bruckner Expressway.

Grand Concourse Bridge over Metro-North Railroad - Hudson Line between 151 Street and 153 Street

Northbound lanes will be closed Monday to Friday from 7 am to 3:30 pm and from 9 pm to 5:30 am next morning, through October 18, 2024, to facilitate structural steel repairs and utility work. Two lanes of traffic in each direction will be maintained on the southbound lanes.

Major Deegan Expressway (northbound) between Exit 3 and Entrance ramp north of East 138 Street

Right-lane will become an exit only lane at Exit 3 24/7. Additional lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 11 pm to 5 am, Saturday and Sunday from 1 am to 8 am, and Sunday night from 10 pm to 5 am next morning through March 3, 2025 to facilitate East 138 Street Bridge replacement. Full closure may occur Monday to Friday between 12 am and 5 am for demolition and erection of the superstructure.

Major Deegan Expressway (southbound) between Exit 3 and Entrance ramp south of East 138 Street

Right-lane will become an exit only lane at Exit 3 24/7. Additional lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 11 pm to 5 am, Saturday and Sunday from 1 am to 8 am, and Sunday night from 10 pm to 5 am next morning through March 3, 2025 to facilitate East 138 Street Bridge replacement. Southbound exit ramp to 138 Street bridge will be closed Monday to Friday from 11 pm to 5 am, Friday from 11 pm to 6 am next morning, Saturday from 11 pm to 9 am next morning, and Sunday from 11 pm to 5 am next morning to facilitate water main connections.

Pelham Bay Bridge

Single-lane northbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 7 am to 9 am. Single-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 9 am to 1 pm and 10 pm to 7 am next morning. These closures are necessary to facilitate structure repair to trusses under deck and will continue through November 1, 2024.

Shore Road Bridge over the Hutchinson River

Single-lane northbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 7 am to 9 am. Single-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 9 am to 1 pm and 10 pm to 7 am next morning. These closures are necessary to facilitate maintenance and will continue through October 11, 2024. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times.

Bridge will be closed Monday to Friday from 11 pm to 3 am next morning to facilitate essential repairs. Metropolitan Avenue may be used as an alternate route.


Brooklyn

7 Avenue Bridge over LIRR between 62 Street and 64 Street

Alternating lane will be closed in both directions Monday to Friday from 7 am to 6 pm through November 1, 2024, to facilitate bridge rehabilitation. Approximately 60 parking spots will be eliminated and the travel lane will be shifted to the parking lane.

9 Avenue Bridge over LIRR between 37 Street and 39 Street

Single-lane in either direction will be closed Monday to Friday from 7 am to 6 pm through October 11, 2024, to facilitate rehabilitation. Approximately 60 parking spaces will be eliminated and travel lane will be shifted to the parking lane.

26 Avenue by Belt Parkway Bridge overpass

Eastbound parking lane will be fenced off as a staging area for underdeck rehabilitation work on the Bely Parkway Bridge. Closure will continue through, approximately end of December 2024. South side sidewalk and eastbound traffic will be maintained at all times. One traffic lane in each direction will be maintained at all times.

Belt Parkway Bridge over 26 Avenue

Single-lane in either direction will be closed Monday to Friday from 11 pm to 5 am next morning and double-lane in either direction will be closed from 1 am to 5 am, through October 11, 2024, to facilitate bridge rehabilitation. At least one travel lane in each direction will be maintained at all times.

Hamilton Bridge over Gowanus Canal

Single-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 11 pm to 5 am next morning through December 27, 2024, to facilitate replacing the East Leaf of West Seating Switch and brakes.

Ninth Street Bridge over the Gowanus Canal

Eastbound will be closed and the bridge will be fully closed intermittently for 15 minutes at a time, Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning through October 18, 2024, to facilitate maintenance and repairs.


Queens

130 Street Bridge over Belt Shore Parkway between South Conduit Avenue and North Conduit Avenue

Right-lane northbound and east side sidewalk will be closed Monday to Thursday from 9 am to 2 pm. Left-lane on North Conduit Avenue westbound approach will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 6 pm and left-turns will be permitted from the center-lane. Left-lane on South Conduit Avenue eastbound approach will be closed Monday to Thursday from 9 am to 2 pm when school is in session and from 7 am to 3 pm when school is not in session. These closures are necessary to facilitate sidewalk repairs.

Belt Parkway/Laurelton Parkway

Shoulder and adjacent lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm, through November 1, 2024, to facilitate electrical repairs.

Belt Parkway between Exit 21B and Exit 20

Single-lane westbound will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 2 pm and 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 pm to 6 am next morning, and Saturday from 10 pm to 11 am next morning. Double-lane westbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 9 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate JFK Redevelopment Program and will continue through December 31, 2025.

Belt Southern Parkway in the vicinity of Springfield Boulevard Bridge

Single-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning and double-lane will be closed from 1 am to 5 am, through October 11, 2024, to facilitate underdeck rehabilitation, spall repair, and removal of all lead-based paint. At least one lane in each direction will be maintained.

Borden Avenue Bridge over Dutch Kills between 27 Avenue and Review Avenue

Beginning on Friday, August 9 through approximately October 31, 2024, the bridge will be reduced to alternate one-way operation with flaggers and the adjacent sidewalk will be closed Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm, Saturday and Sunday from 7 am to 5 pm, to facilitate lead paint removal and repainting project.

Clearview Expressway between Throgs Neck Bridge and 500 feet south of Grand Central Parkway

Shoulder and adjacent lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 9 am to 3 pm, through November 1, 2024, to facilitate electrical repairs.

Cross Island Parkway (entire length)

Shoulder and adjacent lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm, through November 1, 2024, to facilitate electrical repairs.

Francis Lewis Boulevard Bridge over Belt Parkway

These closures are to facilitate underdeck repairs and will continue through October 18, 2024.

Grand Central Parkway between RFK Bridge and Nassau County Line

Shoulder and adjacent lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm on the eastbound and from 10 am to 3 pm on the westbound, through November 1, 2024, to facilitate electrical repairs.

Grand Central Parkway between Union Turnpike and Commonwealth Boulevard

Single-lane Grand Central Parkway eastbound will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 2 pm and 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 am to 2 pm and from 11 pm to 7 am next morning, and Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm and 11 pm to 3 pm Sunday. Double-lane Grand Central Parkway eastbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 7 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 9 am. Single-lane Grand Central Parkway westbound will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 am to 3 pm and from 11 pm to 6 am next morning, and Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 3 pm Sunday. Double-lane Grand Central Parkway westbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 9 am. Single-lane in both directions on the Cross Island Parkway in the vicinity of the Grand Central Parkway interchange will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 6 am next morning, and Saturday from 10 pm to 11 am next morning. Double-lane in both directions on the Cross Island Parkway in the vicinity of the Grand Central Parkway interchange will be closed Monday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 9 am. Single or double-lane closures on the Cross Island Parkway northbound exit ramp to Grand Central Parkway westbound and Cross Island Parkway southbound exit ramp to Grand Central Parkway eastbound will also occur during these times. These closures are necessary to facilitate bridge rehabilitation and will continue through December 21, 2025.

Grand Central Parkway at Long Island Expressway Interchange

Single-lane eastbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm, Monday to Thursday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 pm to 7 am next morning, Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm and from 10 pm to 3 pm next day. Double-lane eastbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 1 am to 9 am. Single-lane westbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm, Monday to Thursday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 pm to 6 am next morning, Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm and from 10 pm to 3 pm next day. Double-lane eastbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am, Saturday from 12:01 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 1 am to 9 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate Safety and Mobility Improvements and will continue through April 23, 2026.

Grand Central Parkway Eastbound between Roosevelt Avenue and 54 Avenue

Eastbound mainline will be closed for 15 minutes at a time, Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 1 am to 9 am through April 23, 2026, to facilitate sign structure removal and installation. Mainline shoulder lane will be closed 24/7 along the project limit to replace sections with traversable curbs and guiderail.

Grand Central Parkway Eastbound CD Road at Exit 10 between Grand Central Parkway Eastbound Exit 10E Ramp and Long Island Expressway Eastbound Ramp Exit 22A

Roadway will be closed Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 1 am to 9 am as part of the Safety and Mobility Improvements.

Hillside Avenue Bridge over Cross Island Parkway

Single-lane, on the bridge, will be closed Monday to Friday from 9 am to 7 pm, Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm, and Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm. Double-lane, on the bridge, will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm. Single-lane at a time in either direction of the Cross Island Parkway underpass will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm. Long Island Expressway between Queens Midtown Tunnel and Nassau County Line

Nassau Expressway between Cross Bay Boulevard Entrance Ramp and Exit 2N

Single-lane eastbound will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 3 pm and 9 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 pm to 7 am next morning, and Saturday from 10 pm to 7 am next morning. Double-lane eastbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am, Saturday from 12:01 am to 7 am, and Sunday from 12:01 am to 7 am. Eastbound Exit Ramp 2S will be closed Monday to Thursday from 11 pm to 7 am next morning, Friday from 11 pm to 7 am next morning, and Saturday from 11 pm to 7 am next morning. These closures are necessary to facilitate JFK Redevelopment Program and will continue through December 31, 2025.

Springfield Boulevard Bridge over Belt Southern Parkway

Center median will be closed and only one lane in each direction, one sidewalk, and one crosswalk will be maintained at all times Monday to Friday from 9 am to 2 pm and from 10 pm to 5 am next morning. These closures are necessary to facilitate rehabilitation of eastern sidewalk and will continue through October 18, 2024.

Van Wyck Expressway

Single-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm, Monday to Thursday from 10 pm to 6 am, Friday from 11:59 pm to 8 am, Saturday from 11 pm to 10 am, and Sunday from 10 pm to 6 am. Double-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Thursday from 11 pm to 4 am and Sunday from 1 am to 7 am. Double-lane will be closed Friday from 11 pm to 7 am for northbound and from 11 pm to 5 am for southbound. The exit and entrance ramps along the north and southbound of the expressway may also be closed. These closures are necessary to facilitate roadway widening and will continue through July 14, 2025.

Van Wyck Expressway in the vicinity of the Roosevelt Avenue Bridge between Northern Boulevard and Long Island Expressway

Double-lane southbound will be closed Monday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Tuesday to Thursday from 11 pm to 5 am next morning, and Saturday from 12:01 am to 6 am, through October 14, 2024, to facilitate reconstruction of the Roosevelt Avenue Bridge.

Tompkins Avenue Bridge over Greenfield Avenue

Northbound lane will be closed and approximately nine parking spaces on the east side will be eliminated, Monday to Friday from 7 am to 3:30 pm, through October 18, 2024, to facilitate bridge rehabilitation. Two-way traffic will be maintained on the southbound lanes.
