“The Drips” to Rock World Water Day

“A Band Ed Norton Could Love”

Date: March 22, 2006
Time: 11:30 AM
Place: Dag Hammarskjold Plaza
Second Avenue and East 47th Street

The ecologically friendly music group “The Drips” will play water-related rock tunes at the World Water Day event at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza in midtown.

The Drips are comprised of five employees of the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).  The DEP is New York City’s water and sewer utility, providing over 1.1 billion gallons of fresh drinking water every day to nine million people in the City and upstate counties.

The New York Times said in December that the Drips’ songs “touch on their passion: water and sewage.”  The Drips are “a band Ed Norton could love.”  Their original compositions include the songs “I Drink the Water,” “Before the Rain Comes Down” and “Leaky Drip.”
