America’s Drinking Water: Can We Deliver?

The Future of Engineering and Water Quality into the Next Century

EVENT: In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the creation of the Board of Water Supply and New York City’s modern drinking water system, the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will convene a conference of engineers and water supply specialists entitled AMERICA’S DRINKING WATER: CAN WE DELIVER?  The conference will highlight the New York City water supply system, but also explore the future of water delivery systems nationwide with emphasis on new technologies and challenges that confront water supply professionals given the needs of consumers and demands on modern water supply infrastructure.

DATE/TIME: Thursday, October 20, 2005:  8:30am – 5pm

LOCATION: National Museum of the American Indian (western entrance), One Bowling Green, New York City

9am – Welcoming remarks: DEP Commissioner Emily Lloyd and EPA, Region 2 Administrator, Alan J. Steinberg

Morning Session: WATER SUPPLY DEPENDABILITY 9:15am-12:45pm – an examination of challenges by a panel of engineers and water supply professionals from New York City, Southern California, Massachusetts, Nevada and Ohio.
