Dear fellow New Yorker,
Last week, I joined my colleagues in government for Iftar in the City, an event on Staten Island to celebrate the resiliency of Muslim communities in New York City during the holy month of Ramadan. Mayor Adams also joined the Muslim community in the Bronx over the weekend as part of a five-borough Ramadan tour. Ramadan Mubarak!
We join with our Hindu neighbors in celebrating Rama Navami, the celebration of the birthday of Lord Rama, who is the seventh incarnation of the Hindu deity, Vishnu. Rama Navarni is a time of prayer, devotion and fasting.
Wishing the Jewish community a happy Passover! Passover commemorates when God freed the Jews from slavery and their exodus from Egypt in quest of the holy land. It is a time for holiday meals, known a seders, special prayers, and abstention from any type of labor.

Parking Tickets Payment Plans
The New York City Department of Finance is excited to announce the availability of online payment plans for parking tickets that have not been paid and are in default – known as judgment debt. Those with $350 and more in parking ticket judgment debt can now enter an online payment plan with DOF to make payments over time instead of paying all at once, which can prevent enforcement actions such as having a vehicle booted or towed.
Understanding that financial hardships or other challenges can arise, DOF is thrilled to provide New Yorkers with our new online payment plan system for a more convenient way to pay off parking ticket debt. Entering into an online payment plan with DOF and making payments in installments can prevent future enforcement actions, so don’t delay and enter into an online payment plan today.

As part of our commitment to keeping our streets clean, the NYC Department of Sanitation is implementing a new rule to reduce the time that trash, recycling, and curbside composting will sit on sidewalks. The new rule went into effect on April 1, 2023.
NOTE: There will be a one-month grace period–businesses and residents will receive written warnings until May 1, 2023

Summer Rising 2023 is a partnership between New York City Public Schools and the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD). Summer Rising is free and available to all NYC students in grades K-8, pending seat availability. Beginning April 17, families can visit this webpage to apply for a Summer Rising seat. Students in Summer Rising will have access to both academic and enrichment programming over the course of the day, including field trips, arts activities, and outdoor recreation. |

NYC Free Tax Prep provides free, professional, tax preparation that can help New Yorkers keep their full refund, including valuable tax credits, like the newly enhanced New York City Earned Income Tax Credit (NYC EITC)
○ Single-filing New Yorkers who earned $56,000 or less in 2022 or families who earned $80,000 or less are encouraged to file their taxes for free using NYC Free Tax Prep. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) began accepting tax returns on Monday, January 23rd and will continue to do so until Tuesday, April 18. |

Highlights From the City Hall Press Office: |
First Phase of MyCity Portal Launched: Mayor Adams announced the first phase of the launch of the MyCity portal. MyCity users will be able to easily check eligibility, apply for, and track services and benefits in the city’s 10 most common languages, as well as securely save their information and documentation for future applications as they apply for child care. Anyone with an internet connection on their phone or computer will be able to log onto mycity.nyc.gov using their IDNYC login or by using an existing email address to authenticate their account. Later this year, the Adams administration will launch phase two of the MyCity portal to assist job seekers and small business owners.
New, Hybrid Ferry for Governors Island: Mayor Adams introduced New York City’s first public, hybrid-electric ferry for Governors Island. All New Yorkers are invited to participate in the citywide competition to name the new vessel by suggesting names on the Governors Island website until May 25, 2023. The new ferry will begin transporting passengers to Governors Island in summer of 2024.
Launch of Summer Rising Enrollment Portal Announced: Mayor Adams announced that the application portal for 2023 Summer Rising seats will open on April 17, 2023 and will close on May 1, 2023. Based on feedback from families, community-based organizations, and schools, the Adams administration is rolling out a new enrollment process for the approximately 110,000 Summer Rising seats available in 2023 in an effort to make the application process more equitable, inclusive, and family-friendly.
