Introducing DOB NOW!

DOB NOW provides robust online accounts, making it easier to submit applications, make payments, schedule appointments, check the status of an application or inspection, pull permits and make renewals. DOB NOW will be released in phases throughout 2016 and 2017 with four main components:

  • DOB NOW Inspections - is the new name for Inspection Ready. All current functionality remains the same for online scheduling, tracking, and notifications as well as enforcement and development inspections;

  • DOB NOW Build - will include job filings, permits, and Letters of Completion. The application is set to go live for plumbing and sprinkler job filings in summer 2016;

  • DOB NOW Safety - includes all compliance filings (facades, boilers, elevators) and will be available for selected job filings in the fall of 2016;

  • DOB NOW Licensing - will allow for online exam filing, issuance, and renewal for licenses. The licensing portion is set to go live in 2017.

Independent Review Provides Twenty-Three Crane Safety Recommendations

The Crane Technical Working Group, comprised of experts in engineering and government, was established by Mayor de Blasio and Commissioner Chandler following the Tribeca crane collapse in February.

The Technical Working Group consulted with stakeholders across the construction industry and workforce as it crafted its recommendations. The Group's independent review, released on June 10th, examines the present state of cranes, the existing New York City regulatory and enforcement framework, national and international crane regulations, and best practices from other jurisdictions and industries. The report identifies areas of existing New York City regulation that can be strengthened to ensure that New York City continues to have the most robust crane regulations in the nation.
