Hon. Gerald Lebovits

Hon. Gerald Lebovits has been a New York City judge since 2001. Currently in Supreme Court, New York County, he previously served in Civil Court, Criminal Court, and Housing Court. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at Columbia Law School, Fordham University School of Law and New York University School of Law. Judge Lebovits was a staff attorney with The New York City Legal Aid Society, Criminal Defense Division, and a principal court attorney in Supreme Court, Criminal Term, both in Manhattan. He has authored or co-authored 6 books and more than 300 articles on civil practice, criminal law and procedure, ethics, landlord-tenant law, legal writing, and trial and appellate advocacy.

Hon. Gerald Lebovits received a B.A. from Carleton University, an LL.L. from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law, an M.C.L. from Tulane University School of Law, and an LL.M. (in Criminal Justice) from New York University School of Law.
