Cassiah Ward

Cassiah Ward was appointed Chief Compliance Officer in December 2024. Cassie is a regulatory attorney with over 20 years of experience focusing on grant management, legal analysis, and process enhancements.

Cassie joined NYCHA in May 2024 as the Vice President of Internal Audit and Assessment. In that role, she oversaw the strategic management of NYCHA’s external audits, coordinating across teams to provide accurate, timely responses and ensuring the effective resolution of audit findings. She also presided over Audit and Finance Committee meetings in her role as VP.

She began her legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in New York County. After spending time in the private sector, including at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher, and Flom, Cassie returned to government service when she joined the New York State Governor's Office of Storm Recovery in 2015. While there, she oversaw compliance for $4.5 billion in grant funding from HUD and served in various roles, including the Director of Monitoring and Compliance and Managing Director of Legal Operations. As Managing Director of Legal Operations, Cassie was responsible for oversight of the monitoring, diversity inclusion compliance, wage compliance, environmental compliance, and procurement functions of the office. She also served as the point of contact on all external audits, determining audit management and response strategies. She is a graduate of Bucknell University and William and Mary Law School.
