The NYC Office of Nightlife at the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment launches NITE School, a series of monthly classes to educate the nightlife industry on how to open, operate and navigate City agencies as well as safety and harm reduction prevention and response training.

Active Shooter Preparedness & Response Training

Nightlife venue operators, workers and patrons can learn how venues can prepare employees for potential active shooter incidents. These situations are unpredictable and evolve quickly, preparing for and knowing what to do can be the difference between life and death. Presented by our partners at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) at the US Department of Homeland Security and the NYPD Shield.

Create Safer Spaces: Crisis Prevention and Bystander Intervention Training

Join Outsmart NYC, a crisis prevention and bystander intervention program, to learn techniques to help prevent sexual harassment and mental health situations in nightlife venues and about their staff training program for nightlife venue operators and workers.


MEND NYC: How Mediation Can Help Resolve Venue-Neighbor Disputes & Improve Community Relations

Learn about the free MEND NYC mediation program, a non-enforcement solution that can help resolve quality-of-life disputes between venues and residents to create long-lasting resolutions and neighborly relationships. Presented by our partners at the Center for Creative Conflict Resolution (OATH).


NARCAN® Behind Every Bar: Overdose Prevention & Naloxone Training

Nightlife venue operators and workers can become a certified opioid overdose responder by learning to recognize the signs and symptoms of an opioid overdose; what is naloxone and how to administer it; how to access harm reduction tools, including free kit with naloxone (NARCAN®)--a medication that can save someone’s life by reversing the effects of an opioid overdose. Presentation by our partners at the NYC Health Department.
