If you have been the victim of a crime, please contact the New York City Police Department. For emergencies call 911. New York City law ensures that all New Yorkers can contact the New York Police Department for help.

Police officers will not ask about immigration status when you call or approach the police seeking help or to report a crime.

Police officers will protect the confidentiality of victims' and witness' information, including their status as a victim of domestic violence and status as a crime witness.

New York Police Department (NYPD) New Immigrant Outreach Unit

The New Immigrant Outreach Unit serves as a link between the NYPD and new immigrant communities. New Immigrant Outreach Liaisons:

  • Provide presentations on police department policies, programs, and services affecting new immigrant communities.
  • Speak different languages which can improve communication with the various immigrant communities.
