What is ElectrifyNYC?

ElectrifyNYC is a program run by the Mayor's Office of Climate & Environmental Justice, in partnership with Kinetic Communities, Neighborhood Housing Services of Queens, and Neighborhood Housing Services of Staten Island, to help New Yorkers adopt solar and electric heat pumps. ElectrifyNYC is designed to create equitable access to green technologies through no-cost technical assistance for property owners and promote just workforce development for contractors working and living in New York City.

New York City homeowners with one to four units can get free assistance with finding tailored energy solutions for their buildings, financial incentives, and professional contractors via the Contact Us form on this site or by contacting ElectrifyNYC directly at ElectrifyNYC@KC3.nyc and 718-500-0172.

How much does ElectrifyNYC assistance cost?

Assistance from ElectrifyNYC is 100% free. Our assistance is available for free thanks to a grant from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). The program has no financial connection to any contractors or installers that participate in our program.

Why is this program important?

  • Solar, heat pumps, and energy efficiency all help reduce the greenhouse gas emissions that are fueling climate change. They can also save you money.
  • Reducing energy costs can improve financial, physical, and mental wellbeing.
  • Reducing the costs to maintain a home can contribute to neighborhood stability and maintain homeownership, improving overall housing affordability.
  • Low-income people and people of color (regardless of income) in the US are underrepresented in access to the benefits of solar.
