In 2015 and 2016, Take Care New York (TCNY) 2020 held 28 community consultations throughout the five boroughs to learn about the top health issues for each community. The Health Department also used these consultations as an opportunity to talk about the health goals of each community and the local assets that can help residents achieve those goals.
We asked participants to rank health issues according to their importance in their neighborhood. Based on those community consultations, we determined the top five priorities for each community, as listed below. For the city overall, the top priorities noted include high blood pressure, child care and obesity.
