East Elmhurst, NY — The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) and the Children’s Museum of Manhattan (CMOM) will cut the ribbon on a newly refurbished, child-friendly visit center on Rikers Island. The opening comes just in time for the holidays, a season when maintaining family connections is especially meaningful for people in custody and their loved ones.

The renovated center was designed by the Children’s Museum of Manhattan with children in mind and includes games, toys, books, and other engaging features to create a welcoming environment for visiting families.
