Community Partnerships and STEAM Initiatives

The Department of Design and Construction works with the educational community and beyond to develop programs, events and research agendas that encourage people of all ages to interact with architecture and engineering. Inclusivity is valued during all stages of our work; we strive to share our knowledge and research, as well as create lasting partnerships.

  • STEAM Initiatives: A diverse pipeline for New York City's youth to engage in architecture, construction, and engineering (ACE) industries.
  • Town+Gown: Bringing academics and practitioners together to create and share knowledge on the built environment.
  • Opportunity Academy: A partnership with the School Construction Authority and LaGuardia Community College designed to help certified MWBEs grow their businesses through the training of a team of well-equipped office professionals with specialized knowledge of DDC processes.
