Are wedding ceremonies permitted in New York City?

Yes. However, New York State has imposed various restrictions on wedding activities, as outlined below.

How many people are permitted to attend?

  • For indoor wedding ceremonies, 50% of the capacity of the space as set by the certificate of occupancy, with a maximum of 50 people.
  • For outdoor wedding ceremonies, a maximum of 50 people, as long as all attendees are able to maintain at least 6 feet of social distancing.

Are there any other requirements for these ceremonies?

Yes. For ceremonies of all sizes:

  • At least 6 feet of distance must be maintained between individuals, unless those individuals belong to the same household.
  • Face coverings must be worn whenever individuals are unable to or are not maintaining 6 feet of social distancing.
  • All applicable disinfecting protocols must be adhered to.

Is indoor dining service permitted?

No. Indoor dining service – whether as part of a wedding celebration or otherwise – is not permitted at this time.

Is outdoor dining service permitted?

Yes, provided that all State guidance on outdoor dining is followed. Read our Outdoor Dining Frequently Asked Questions for further guidance.

May I hold a dining event in an outdoor tent?

Yes. However, the tent must be completely open on at least two sides and all State guidance on outdoor dining must be followed.
