Limited Service Laboratory Registration

Laboratories that only do certain clinical tests can register as Limited Service Laboratory. Laboratories register with the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH).

These laboratory facilities include:

Hospital extension clinics;
Nursing homes;
Home health care agencies;
School/student health services;
Dialysis facilities;
Ambulatory (out-patient) surgery centers;
County health departments;
Correctional facilities;
Ambulance/rescue squads; and
Other direct patient care facilities.

Eligible tests include:

Wet mounts;
Potassium hydroxide preparations;
Pinworm examinations;
Fern tests;
Post-coital direct, qualitative mucus examinations;
Urinalysis;
Fecal leukocyte examination;
Semen analysis; and
Nasal smears.

Laboratories managed or owned by more than one organization are included.
