"One of the things I enjoy most about being Mayor is visiting school children, reading with them and hearing about what they want to be when they grow up," the Mayor said. "My book "What Will You Be" gave me an opportunity to explore the interests of children and help them to envision a successful future. "A Day in the Life of a Mayor" is a wonderful companion. It educates children about the demands and realities of our professions, mine and those of the other real people featured in the rest of the series.
"I hope this book encourages children to think about their futures and set attainable goals. Moreover, I hope it inspires them to understand the importance of education. The series is a great way for kids to learn about all the possibilities their futures hold," the Mayor added.
Joining the Mayor were Administration for Children Services Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta, Liza N. Burby, the writer of the book, and editors Nancy Ellwood, Caroline Levchuck, Michelle Drohan and Jane Kosek.
The three-year-old series, which follows professionals in different fields through a full workday, has published 18 tiles, including "A Day in the Life of an Architect," "A Day in the Life of a Nurse," "A Day in the Life of a Librarian," "A Day in the Life of a Doctor," "A Day in the Life of a Police Officer," "A Day in the Life of a Park Ranger," "A Day in the Life of a Teacher," and "A Day in the Life of a Professional Golfer," among others.
