Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani today appointed Anthony P. Piscitelli as the new Director of New York City's Office of State Legislative Affairs, which oversees relations between the City and New York State government. Mr. Piscitelli, who is currently an attorney with the law firm Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker LLP, replaces Robert Harding, who was recently named Director of the City's Office of Management and Budget. Mr. Piscitelli's appointment will become effective September 8, 1998.
"Skip Piscitelli brings a wealth of knowledge to this important assignment," the Mayor said. "His vast legal experience, including his service as a legislative representative in the Office of the Mayor from 1990 through 1994, make him an excellent candidate for this post. During his previous City service he represented the Mayor and City agencies before the State Legislature, the Governor and State agencies, and reviewed extensive state legislation affecting the City of New York with special emphasis on criminal justice, economic development, transportation and election-related matters. I am confident that he will use those same skills and his considerable experience to pursue the City's interests in Albany effectively."
Mr. Piscitelli said, "I look forward to working with the Mayor to advance the City's agenda in Albany in what I think is the best job in municipal government. I want to continue the Mayor's initiatives in Criminal Justice and Education, and to effectively represent the City's interests as they relate to the State's budget."
Since 1996, Mr. Piscitelli has served as an attorney with the law firm of Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker LLP. From 1994 to 1996, he worked for the law firm Gibney, Anthony & Flaherty, LLP, where he practiced governmental relations law representing his clients' interests before the State Legislature, City Council, administrative and regulatory agencies. In 1989, Mr. Piscitelli worked as law assistant in the First Judicial Department of the New York State Civil Court.
Mr. Piscitelli earned a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from the Columbia College of Columbia University (1978), a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the Arizona State University (1982), and a Juris Doctor Degree from St. John's University School of Law (1988). He resides in the Riverdale section of The Bronx.
