MAYOR GIULIANI PROCLAIMS FEBRUARY 2ND, 1998 AS
"PEPSI-COLA 100TH ANNIVERSARY DAY"
Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani today declared February 2nd, 1998 "Pepsi-Cola 100th Anniversary Day" in New York City. The Mayor delivered the proclamation as part of Pepsi-Cola's 100th Anniversary celebrations at Manhattan's Bryant Park, at Sixth Avenue and 42nd Street. The company announced that it will distribute more than one million free cans of Pepsi-Cola to New Yorkers throughout the City.
"Today, as part of its 100th anniversary celebrations, Pepsi-Cola will distribute over one million free cans of Pepsi to colleges, homeless shelters, community groups and religious organizations," said Mayor Giuliani. "Both Pepsi-Cola and its parent company, PepsiCo, are headquartered in New York State and Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company currently employs more than 1,600 New Yorkers throughout the City.
"Pepsi-Cola first opened its offices in New York City in 1931 and for the past 67 years has proved to be a vital member of our City's business community and a great supporter of New Yorkers in need. Pepsi-Cola is a major supporter of many New York City organizations, including: God's Love We Deliver, Calvary Hospital Fund, the Boy Scouts, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the American Health Foundation and many more," the Mayor concluded.
