"We are deeply saddened by the casualties and devastation reported as a result of the earthquake that hit Eastern Turkey earlier today. Details are still becoming clear but we know that the impact was severe.  More than 10,000 people of Turkish descent make New York City their home and our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected both here and abroad.
