STATEMENTS OF MAYOR BLOOMBERG AND MEDIA & ENTERTAINMENT COMMISSIONER OLIVER ON RECORD 110 EMMY NOMINATIONS FOR TELEVISION SHOWS THAT ARE 'MADE IN NY'

Statement of Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg

"Congratulations on the record 110 Emmy nominations for 18 of the television shows that are 'Made in NY.' New York City is experiencing a record level of film and television production and the Emmy Nominations are a testament to the creative productions that have been made here. Film and television production in the City supports100,000 New Yorkers who make their living working behind the scenes. Today's announcement by the Academy of Television, Arts and Sciences is good news for all New Yorkers who work in the City's thriving entertainment Industry. And despite my appearance with the cast of Glee, I will be pulling for one of the 'Made In NY' shows to carry the night."

Statement of Media & Entertainment Commissioner Katherine Oliver

"This is such an exciting day for 'Made in NY' productions. Whether it's first-time contenders Mildred Pierce (21 Nominations) and Boardwalk Empire (18 Nominations) or some of the returning classics, like Saturday Night Live (16 Nominations) and 30 Rock (13 Nominations), New York City is not only experiencing record levels of television production but clearly reaching new heights of creative ingenuity. 18 shows receiving 110 nominations is a new high for 'Made in NY' productions, and it is already a terrific win for the industry and for the City."
