STATEMENT OF MAYOR MICHAEL R. BLOOMBERG ON NEW ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY STEPS TO REDUCE INTERNET PIRACY

"Lost revenue from Internet piracy is a threat to New Yorkers working in the creative entertainment industry. That's why our Media & Entertainment Office launched Stop Piracy NYC, a PSA campaign that targets digital piracy through videos, bus shelters and a website. The City commends the Motion Picture Association of America, Internet service providers and the music industry for their ongoing efforts to educate consumers about the dangers of online theft.  Hundreds of thousands of jobs are linked to the entertainment industry in New York City alone, and we must continue to do everything we can to protect their right to earn a living."
