MAYOR BLOOMBERG HOLDS PUBLIC HEARING ON LEGISLATION EXTENDING THE DATE OF SUBMISSION FOR THE MAYOR'S TEN-YEAR CAPITAL PLAN AND EXECUTIVE BUDGET

Remarks by Mayor Bloomberg at a Public Hearing on Local Laws

"The final bill before me today is Introductory Number 537, sponsored at the request of the Administration by Council Members Recchia and Cabrera.

"Introductory Number 537 extends the date for the submission of the Mayor's ten-year capital strategy and the Executive Budget to the City Council by nine days from April 26, 2011 to May 5, 2011. Introductory Number 537 also makes corresponding adjustments for other Charter mandated actions required during the budget process such as the dates for Borough President budget responses, Independent Budget Office budget analysis and the City Council Executive Budget hearings.  This action is necessary so the Administration can have some extra time to refine the budget proposal before submitting it to the City Council.

I would like to thank the Office of Management and Budget and the City Council for their work on this bill.

"I will hold another public hearing on these bills Friday in the event anyone was unable to attend today's hearing due to religious observance."
