MAYOR BLOOMBERG AND PITTSBURGH MAYOR RAVENSTAHL ASK FANS FOR IDEAS ON AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME WAGER

New Yorkers Can Suggest Ideas by Tweeting with the Hashtag “#JetsBet”

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl today asked fans to send in wager ideas for Sunday’s AFC championship game. The Jets will take on the Steelers on Sunday at 6:30 PM at Heinz Field for a chance to go to Super Bowl XLV. The mayors will announce the wager on Friday. Mayor Bloomberg first asked fans to submit wager ideas today through the Mayor’s Office Twitter feed @NYCMayorsOffice.

“The Jets are one game away from the Super Bowl, and we’re betting on a win for Gang Green,” said Mayor Bloomberg. “Send us your ideas for what New York City should offer in a wager with Pittsburgh, and Mayor Ravenstahl and I will announce the bet on Friday.

“Pittsburgh has continued to live up to our reputation as the ‘City of Champions,’ which have resulted in plenty of mayoral bets,” said Mayor Luke Ravenstahl. “We’ve had mayors wear our jerseys, send their cities best gifts, and even appear in Sports Illustrated in their zoos’ penguins exhibit, twirling a Terrible Towel.  This time, we’d like to hear directly from the Steelers Nation.”

Be sure to follow Mayor Bloomberg’s Twitter feed through @NYCMayorsOffice. New Yorkers can make wager suggestions by tweeting @NYCMayorsOffice using the hashtag “#JetsBet.” Mayor Ravenstahl will review ideas from Steelers fans through the City of Pittsburgh Facebook page at www.facebook.com/city.of.pittsburgh and to its Twitter page at @CityPGH.
