MAYOR BLOOMBERG SIGNS LEGISLATION REQUIRING THE CREATION OF A BUSINESS OWNER'S BILL OF RIGHTS

Remarks by Mayor Bloomberg at a Public Hearing on Local Laws

“The first of seven bills before me today is Introductory Number 118-A, sponsored by Council Members Koslowitz, Comrie, Dromm, Fidler, Nelson, Reyna, Arroyo, Crowley, White, Recchia, Van Bramer, Brewer, Ulrich, Rose, Palma, Jackson, Levin, Eugene, Sanders, Vann, and Halloran.

“Introductory Number 118-A requires the Mayor’s Office of Operations to create and to the extent possible distribute a Business Owner’s Bill of Rights to business owners.  This document would set forth reasonable expectations that business owners can have of inspectors, and will educate business owners on the inspection process.

“I would like to thank Mayor’s Office of Operations Director Jeff Kay, Counselor to the Mayor Anthony Crowell, and their staff for their work on this bill.  I would also like to recognize the Regulatory Review Panel, which was the driving force behind this legislation, as well as the City Council for approving this legislation.”
