STATEMENT BY MAYOR MICHAEL R. BLOOMBERG ON U.S. HOUSE PASSAGE OF H.R. 3221, THE FORECLOSURE PREVENTION ACT OF 2008

"The House of Representatives today passed H.R. 3221, The Foreclosure Prevention Act of 2008, which contains several provisions that will help New Yorkers. If passed into law, this bill would help people stay in their houses and provide funds for the City to stabilize neighborhoods. It would also help keep Starrett City affordable and provide resources to build more affordable rental housing in New York. On behalf of all New Yorkers, I want to thank Ways and Means Chairman Charlie Rangel and Senator Chuck Schumer, along with the rest of the New York delegation, for their hard work on this legislation. On behalf of the people of New York City, I urge the Senate to pass the bill quickly and the President to sign it."
