MAYOR MICHAEL R. BLOOMBERG’S STATEMENT ON VERIZON KEEPING ITS CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS IN NEW YORK CITY

“I am thrilled Verizon is keeping its corporate headquarters in New York City and moving 1,500 employees to Lower Manhattan over the next few years.  We are also delighted that Verizon, one of our largest companies with more than 18,500 employees, has made a commitment to maintain its current number of workers in the City.  Their decision is a strong vote of confidence in the remarkable recovery taking place in Lower Manhattan and throughout the five boroughs.  I commend Verizon for its decision to establish its headquarters downtown, further enhancing the City’s reputation as the business capital of the world.  I also want to thank Senator Schumer and Assembly Speaker Silver for their steadfast commitment to creating jobs and opportunity in Lower Manhattan.”
