MAYOR MICHAEL R. BLOOMBERG AND PITTSBURGH MAYOR TOM MURPHY ANNOUNCE FRIENDLY WAGER ON JETS STEELERS PLAYOFF GAME

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and Pittsburgh Mayor Tom Murphy today placed a friendly wager on the outcome of Saturday’s AFC Divisional playoff game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets.

If the Jets win, Mayor Murphy will send a care package of Pittsburgh products to Mayor Bloomberg in New York, including an assortment of products provided by Pittsburgh-based H.J. Heinz Company, a case of Pittsburgh brewed Iron City beer in Iron City’s new one-of-a-kind aluminum bottle, “A Basket of Pittsburgh” full of all things Pittsburgh and an assortment of Pittsburgh sports memorabilia from the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum.  If the Steelers win Mayor Bloomberg will send some of New York’s tastiest food stuffs to Mayor Murphy.  New York will wager a case of Brooklyn Lager, two dozen Nathan’s Hot Dogs with all the trimmings, and a tray of World Famous Veniero’s Italian Cookies.

“Gang Green has had a great season and we look forward to another upset victory this Sunday in Pittsburgh,” said Mayor Bloomberg. “We are putting up some of New York’s finest food and while I doubt we will lose at least Mayor Murphy can dream about our beer, hot dogs and cookies.”

“The Steelers have had an incredible regular season and I’m confident that Big Ben, Jerome, James Farrior, Coach Cower and the entire organization are going to continue that success into the playoffs,” said Mayor Murphy.  “Our entire city is excited about this game and looking forward to a black and gold victory!”
