STATEMENT BY MAYOR MICHAEL R. BLOOMBERG ON CITY PLANNING COMMISSION'S APPROVAL OF THE HUDSON YARDS REDEVELOPMENT PLAN

"Today's decisive vote by the City Planning Commission, which includes representatives from all five boroughs, brings us one step closer to transforming Manhattan's last frontier into a vibrant, accessible, 24/7 commercial and residential neighborhood. Complete with parks, affordable housing, an extended 7 train, and coupled with the establishment of the Convention Corridor, the development of the Far West Side is the single most important economic development project for our City's future.  By extending the midtown business district, we will create two hundred thousand new jobs for New Yorkers and thousands of units of housing to meet the demands of our growing population. I want to thank the members of the City Planning Commission for their careful analysis of the plan and the considerable amount of time they dedicated to its review."
